High-rise Mixed-use Building, East Africa

A mixed-use building located in the capital of a rapidly developing country in East Africa. Its defining feature is the building’s “suspension” above gardens with public-use pavilions, allowing free movement between the roundabout and the public green space on the opposite side of the building. Deep, greenery-filled recessed areas provide protection from solar radiation while allowing users to have their own private gardens.

The natural slope of the site was used to create a five-level open parking facility, concealed from view from the side of the roundabout.
